About EATOR
EATOR stands for Electrical Apprenticeship and Training at Oak Ridge. EATOR is used only for our website. Our official name is the Oak Ridge Electrical Apprenticeship and Training Committee.
We are affiliated with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) and the National Electrical Contractors Association (NECA). There are links to each of their websites. We are one of scores of such local programs around the Country. Our local parent organizations are the IBEW Local Union 270 and the East Tennessee Chapter of NECA.
The Oak Ridge Electrical JATC is also affiliated with the National Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee for the International Office of the IBEW and the National Office of NECA.
Our goal is to provide on the job training coupled with related classroom studies over a period of five years to train the very brightest, most productive and professional electrical workers for the electrical construction industry.
We make note of the fact that apprentices are paid an hourly rate of pay for on the job training and they receive related training through organized classroom studies. We refer to our apprenticeship as an “earn while you learn” program.
Readers should know that each year, Nation Wide, the IBEW and NECA contributes, in excess of, one hundred million dollars in training apprentices and their journey level members. These are private monies negotiated through bargaining agreements between the Local Unions of the IBEW and the Local Chapters of NECA. We are committed to quality training and the monetary investment is an example of our commitment to training the best craft workers for the construction industry.
NO DISCRIMINATION
The Oak Ridge program encourages men and women of any race, color, religion or national origin to apply. We do NOT discriminate against anyone regardless of race, color, religion, national origin, sex or age for those 18 years of age or older.
We certainly honor our military veterans and encourage them to apply. We also have members that serve in the active reserves where all commitments are honored and respected.
